One of the promises of Barack Obama, president of the United States of America (just in case an extraterrestrial would be reading my blog), was to have the most transparent administration ever. Or at least so I have heard it reported.
How come then that they are basing their policy of reinstating Manuel Zelaya as president of Honduras on a secret report from the State Department? Especially since that report is contradicted by the only known report, from the Law Library of Congress.
Meanwhile, do read the comment by US Congressman DeMint in WSJ. It’s dead on.
In the interest of full disclosure, I was active in the Obama campaign (and as a business owner I think that health care reform is crucially important).
PS. There is one lingering doubt. We all know the saying “keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer”. And we know about Noriega in Panama. I wonder… could Zelaya be a US asset for keeping an eye on Chavez and ALBA? (It is known that he is a personal friend of the US ambassador, Llorens.) Could that be the reason they need him reinstated? Could it even be the reason why that report can not be made public? Also, Micheletti is terrified that Chavez will have Zelaya murdered. If he knew that Zelaya was a US asset, that worry would make a lot of sense.
